Choosing the Best Razor for Men

Double edge safety razors in display
If you want to achieve the perfect shave at least once in your life, you should know that there are many factors that can ultimately determine the success or failure of your approach. Shaving is an activity that requires attention to many things, from the products you buy and use, to the actual shaving technique you use. Since this blog is about shaving razors, I’d like to talk a little about choosing this item.

Choosing the best razor for men is very important if we want to minimize the damage the blade does to our skin when shaving, so let’s take a look at all of our options.

To start, know that cheap disposable razors are the worst tools you can use to shave your beard.  These cheap plastic products are still used in many parts of the world, and given the low quality they have they can end up leaving nicks, cuts and irritation.  Stay away from them!

A better alternative is to use a more advanced razor. Common examples of these types of razors are the Gillette Proglide and the Mach 3.  I’m not a big fan of these razors but they bring more protection and even come with cool features – but not necessary.

The best type of razors are the ones that are included in the “classic shaving category”, they are the double edge safety razor and the straight edge razor.  Those have been tools that men have used for centuries and are experiencing a comeback. The only downside about these razors is that they may require a bit of learning, but trust me, it is time well spent.

Well, that’s it for now, in the following days I will talk a little more about some great brands and the best razors of 2012!
